I agree Kevin, hate counting cuations, and like you mentioned, stop the cars if you know the clean up is going to take awhile.
In the newer era of "racing" entertainment: how about selecting a kid from the grandstands at the start of the show and have them draw a pill for the "match" race of the evening. The match races could be a 6 car fast dash, 10 fastest cars Australian pursuit, 10 slowest cars Australian pursuit, and any additonal unique races someone can come up with. However, add at least $200 to the purse to spread out some of the money for this race to help offset fuel.
This may also add to the show always having something unique and creating a new fan for life for picking out the "match" race. Btw, have that kid with the winner on the front stretch getting his/her picture taken.
MSA does a great job with the frisbee idea. I also like Fremont's idea where after each heat race, the winner goes into the stand and gives a trophy to a kid. Can anyone imagine the kid who gets the trophy not begging mom and dad to take him to the next race?
